The Round House is a vacation compound that illustrates the eclectic fusion of traditional Balinese architecture, Asian artistry, classic European design and contemporary chic. The compound consists of two circular villas and one circular pavilion with inverted cone roofs made from alang-alang thatch. In contrast, interiors are appointed with vintage western furnishings and decor, ornate oriental as well as in vogue, stylish pieces. All taken together, the rustic exteriors and antiquated, weathered interiors give the entire villa a laid-back and quaint appeal. The Round House, truly, takes you on a journey where you encounter the best of all worlds.
The villa has three bedrooms. Two of these bedrooms are in the main villa. Both bedrooms have draped, queen-sized beds. Both bedrooms also share a common bathroom with a large bathtub as well as dual fixtures. One other bedroom is in a separate circular villa. This bedroom has a canopied and draped, queen-sized brass bed and a dedicated semi-open bathroom with an outdoor rain shower.
Bordered by thickets of tropical trees, the property’s outdoor area is equally divided between a well-maintained lawn and the 10-meter swimming pool. Jump into its welcoming, crystal-clear waters for some mindless wading or some playful splashing. Up from the water, you can stretch out on cushioned, bamboo pool beds partially covered by a large umbrella on the pool’s wooden deck.
Indoors, at the high-ceilinged main villa, is the living area. Here, you can sit around the large and long couches and comfortable armchairs for some lively conversation. Close by is the dining area. On the circular wooden table good for six, you can all get a taste of authentic local specialties – as well as Western staples – meticulously put together by the in-house chef at the fully-equipped kitchen built by the nearby wall. At the circular, semi-open, high-ceilinged pavilion is a long, wooden table with cushioned, wooden benches which also serves as an alternative alfresco dining area.
Assigned to attend to the daily services of the villa is a helpful staff composed of a housekeeper, a pool attendant, a gardener and 24-hour security. In addition to the chef, a babysitter, a driver and a spa therapist may, upon your request, be called in. Their services, however, will be charged separately. You can also have room service brought in from nearby Café Bali. Car rental is also available.
The Round House is right at the heart of Seminyak – where all the action is in Bali. Walking distance from the villa is the Oberoi District’s Eat Street – a foodie strip with casual to fine-dining restaurants. Must-try places include La Lucciola, Mamasan, Revolver Café and Ultimo. Amble on and you’ll stumble upon fashion boutiques, novelty shops and souvenir stores. You will, eventually, arrive at Seminyak Beach. Choose your own spot at any of the cozy beach cafes and chill out until twilight. After dark, check out the dazzling nightlife at hip bars and clubs such as Potato Head or Ku De Ta.
