As you set foot into Villa Una through its imposing teak gates, you will be overcome with a sense of awe. Right at the entrance, this majestic five-bedroom hideaway looms large before you. And as you approach and encounter this Balinese Villa, you cannot help but be enthralled by the elegance of its native and rustic architecture, by the interiors that blend traditional and contemporary elements, and by the expansive and lush surroundings. As you take in the enchanting beauty of the place, you realize that yes – you are now in paradise. And for the duration of your stay, yes – it’s a paradise that is yours and yours alone.
From the living area, a staircase takes you to the master suite. With its teak floors and wooden interiors, the bedroom opens to a covered balcony that gives you a view of the garden and the pool. The centerpiece is a hand-carved, canopied bed fit for a king. Should you find it hard to rise from its soft pillows and sheets, satellite TV and a library are provided to keep you preoccupied. The suite has its very own bathroom with a large tub where you can just laze in a prolonged and relaxing bath.
Two of the four guest bedrooms are situated in the main villa. One of these bedrooms opens to a veranda. Here, you can crash on a beanbag and simply lounge while looking out to the pool. Each bedroom, however, has its own open-air, blue-terrazzo bathroom equipped with pergola-shaded rain showers. Two other bedrooms were built as a Lumbung – a two-story bungalow with a thatched roof. Traditionally, Lumbungs were used to store rice. Now intended to serve as accommodation, this Lumbung is provided with a single bathroom which the two bedrooms share as well as a patio hidden by flora and foliage. Here, you may start your day lazily enjoying breakfast in private. The Lumbung is also equipped with a refrigerator for your favorite drinks.
Once you’ve settled in, why not walk over to the swimming pool? You’ll be mesmerized by its crystal-clear blue waters and by the wavy shadows cast by the sun. Dive in. Do laps while the kids enjoy a refreshing splash at the pool’s shallow end. Or, breathe in the fragrance and fresh air of the tropical garden’s colorful flowers and tall, age-old trees as you bathe in the sun – stretched out in one of the comfortable pool-side sunbeds. But once it gets too hot, you can retreat to the shade of a nearby gazebo with its traditional alang-alang roof.
You can also get a relaxing view of the garden from the villa’s living area. Amidst its reclaimed teak wood interiors and large open space, you can surely find your own comfortable corner to lounge around – left to your own thoughts or to catch up on your reading. And even if you’re in a home away from home, you need not miss out on your favorite shows. Watch these on satellite TV hooked up to a DVD player. At the dining area, you and the entire family can savor authentic Balinese cuisine on the long, teak wood dining table. Should you wish to show off your culinary skills, there is a fully-equipped open kitchen. Adjacent is a large terrazzo bar with stools provided – ideal for the long talks that accompany after-dinner drinks.
Villa Una is run by a friendly, English-speaking manager who will be more than happy to answer whatever questions you have and to assist you in arranging various day trips. Two housekeepers and two gardeners are also on hand to ensure a truly memorable stay.
