Overlooking the unspoilt area of Val d’Orcia in southern Tuscany, a marvellous 18th-century farmhouse known as Villa Sambuco makes a delightful discovery for guests. Built over 2 storeys, it has been completely renovated, though its wall facade still retains the original historic stone architecture. Consisting of 6 bedrooms for 14 guests, the villa is well-appointed with a tasteful blend of contemporary and antique furnishings and furniture. Adding the touch of personalization is the prized modern art collection by the owners that adorn the walls and interiors. Elegant indoors aside, guests would also be awed by the outdoors that feature among others like a patio, a pizza oven and swimming pool from which the breathtaking views of the valley extending from Radicofani to Pienza could be savored.
There are 6 double bedrooms in total at Villa Sambuco that come fitted with their own private bath. 4 of the bedrooms upstairs command some of the most extraordinary views of the valley and estate, while 2 on the ground floor are equipped with their own private entrances and small personal gardens for guests. Furnished with king-sized beds for all the rooms, they sleep 14 guests as the maximum occupancy.
The outdoors of Villa Sambuco are just perfect for relaxation and entertainment, as guests could lounge around the first patio area that comes equipped with 2 large tables for alfresco dining under the cool summer breeze or romantic evening skies. Another patio is located towards the further end of the pool area near the pizza oven facility. Guests will certainly be delighted by the swimming pool measuring 17m x 5m of turquoise waters that is alluring for a swim and dip. On the side of the annex is a small gym that allows guests plenty of exercise time with their top-notch training equipment, should you fancy prying your eyes from the abundance of greenery of the surrounding hills, an orchard as well as an astounding flower and vegetable garden.
The indoors feature 2 beautifully thought-out spacious living areas for either entertainment of private parties and for relaxation simply with friends and family, including a fireplace to boot. There is also a generous dining room furnished with contemporary furniture and a well-equipped kitchen for great cookout sessions including appliances like 6 large burners, 2 dishwashers, microwave, a large freeze and separate freezer. Also included are 2 washing machines and dryer, while guests also have access to satellite television channels and WiFi throughout.
The efficient team of staff provide daily cleaning services in the mornings for about 4 hours and also maintain the pool and garden area. A personal cook can be engaged upon request to whip up tasty authentic Tuscan meals as daily servings. For large celebrations or reunion events, guests can also request to be hosted in the property. Thanks to the estate’s garden of vegetables, guests also have the opportunity to harvest and taste the freshest produce for wholesome, hearty meals.
The villa is located just minutes away from gorgeous Renaissance and medieval churches, especially as Val D’Orcia was recognized as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2004 for the splendor of its cultural and natural beauty. Extending from the hills south of Siena to the cone-shaped Monte Amiata, which was once a volcano, guests will see how the strategic importance of the area and its connection with Siena are all intertwined with the Via Francigena, a route used by pilgrims and merchants since the late Medieval times that helped the development of churches and monasteries like Collegiata of San Quirico and the Abbey of Sant’ Antimo which guests get to witness today. Nearby is a bowls field where guests could enjoy the views of Castiglioncello del Trinoro, a medieval town perched at the hilltop, where other towns like Pienza and Montepulciano are between 20 and 30 minutes drive away.
