One of the favourite properties in Hirafu, Asahi is a five-bedroom luxury wooden chalet. With 330 square metres of stunning floor space over three storeys, dual access and a private secure garage, it is no wonder it is so popular with families and large groups. Highlights include an eight person sauna and a large custom built ski equipment drying room. It is stylishly decorated throughout with contemporary designs with beautiful Japanese touches. The location could not be better, with easy access to all of Hirafu’s world-famous snow resorts as well as to the large selection of restaurants and bars. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the chalet.
Asahi has five bedrooms, split between all three floors. Bedroom one is located on the lower or ground floor, next to the media room. It has two single beds that can be made easily into a king-size bed. The entrance to the bedroom is via shoji doors, and it has traditional Japanese tatami style flooring. Bedroom two is on the next storey up. It has two single beds that guests can easily make a king size bed from. It has a very large walk-in wardrobeas well as an en suite bathroom that has a walk-in shower and separate bathtub. The bedroom has access to its own private balcony.
The final three bedrooms are all on the upper floor, accessed via a stairway and landing that overlooks the living room area below. Bedroom three has two single beds that can be joined to form a king-size bed, a wardrobe and an en suite with bathtub. Bedroom four has two single beds that can join to form a king-size bed and an en suite bathroom with a shower. Bedroom five has a king-size bed, a large walk-in closet, and an en suite bathroom with shower.
Asahi has two balconies. One is a private one accessed from bedroom two. On the other side of the house, the communal one leads off from the dining and living area.
The lower storey is accessed either by the private garage or via the traditional genkan, which leads to the drying room. That floor is also home to a large storage area, particularly handy when you have a large family, a powder room and WC, a sauna that fits eight people comfortably, and the media room. This comes with a large plasma TV, with cable access, DVD player and music system.
The middle level is dominated by the glorious open plan living, dining and kitchen area. With its wooden floors, gas fire, large expanse of windows, and stylish brickwork, it is a joy to sit on the leather sofas and just take everything in. The cathedral style high ceiling and the windows that lead all the way up to it, really do make for an impressive spectacle, and that is without even mentioning the stunning panoramic mountainous backdrop. The fully equipped western kitchen has everything you need to cater for a large family or group of friends.
Guests with children can always hire a cot (suitable for children up to two years of age), a high chair and a safety gate. They also get free use of the exclusive concierge service. This can be used for anything from booking a table at any of the numerous restaurants in the area to finding a babysitter.
The luxury ski chalet is very conveniently situated for all of Hirafu’s ski slopes, famous for their incredible powder. The slopes are almost in touching distance, and the chalet is even nearer to the free bus shuttle service to save your legs even more. Slightly further afield but still only a short drive away are the Moiwa and Rusutsu resorts, and the world-renowned local onsen. With a name like Asahi, you would expect it to be close to nightlife, and that is certainly the case. These include Sessa, Niseko Ramen Kazahana and Bistro Re Arbor.
