Cocooned high in the hills on the Versilia Coast is a 4-bedroom property known as Villa La Gigia, prized for the breathtaking views that it overlooks thanks to its very panoramic location. With a mere 6km away from the popular town of Pietrasanta here in Lucca, La Gigia is a wonderful blend of classic with contemporary, as chic and stylish design takes centerstage within its well-appointed interiors featuring tasteful furniture and furnishings to boot. The external architecture is made of stones, with a well-manicured garden, an infinity swimming pool and an inviting sun terrace as among its strong elements. The villa in fact has been exclusively restored using Tuscan materials synonymous with the area such as cotto floors, marble, chestnut wood and local tufo. Other unique features of the villa include its environmental-friendly appliances like a geothermal heating system, a saltwater system for the pool, and did we say the views that stretch from Elba Island to as far as Cinque Terre that can be savored daily?
Accommodating 8 guests in total, this villa contains 4 bedrooms which are spread between the main house and the guest house. Over at the main house which consists of 2 floors, the 1st double bedroom is found with its unique lofted bed with its own ensuite bathroom and which is accessible via a spiral staircase. Up on the 1st floor are 2 other rooms, namely the Master Suite made up of a double bedding, a sitting room and an ensuite bathroom, as well as a double bedroom with its ensuite bathroom too, both of which open up to the bonus of a large panoramic terrace area. At the guesthouse, it fits 2 guests to the luxury of privacy with its double bedroom that also comes with an ensuite bathroom.
The outdoor grounds of Villa La Gigia are enveloped by the breathtaking sea views that stretch from Elba Island to the Cinque Terre, which are beautifully afforded from various areas externally. The well-kept gardens allow guests to enjoy their drinks or dine alfresco on, and the other highlight is of course the irregularly–shaped, infinity swimming pool installed with saltwater system at the front of the home, replete with an inviting sun terrace of 35sq metres where guests can leverage on with sunbathing or a summer-style picnic. Guests who may feel the brunt of heat need not worry as the owners have thoughtfully equipped this space with 2 air-conditioning units on the front terrace. And if these outdoor spots aren’t mind blowing enough, did we mention that there is a barbeque area with a pizza oven that even commands a panoramic position overlooking the seas?
The indoors of the villa make the most of traditional and typical local Tuscan materials as part of its restoration while being ethically-conscious to keep its carbon footprint to a bare minimum. Among the locally-sourced finishings and materials include cotto floors, marble, chestnut wood and local tufo, and the respect towards the environment is another element to be commended, given the use of environmentally-friendly and sophisticated appliances like the geothermal heating system. On the ground floor of the main house, are areas like the bright and refreshing living hall, dining room, and the fully-furnished kitchen - all of which opens out to the front air conditioned verandah outside, and finally the laundry room with amenities like washing machine and dryer for guests’ laundry needs.
