What to do in Alcudia? This pretty town located on the northwest side of Majorca has everything for a wonderful holiday. Alcudia is the main tourist destination in the north<\/strong>. The town lies a little land inward surrounded by ancient city walls<\/strong> and within those city walls, you will find great history and culture<\/strong>. Roman architecture, museums, art galleries, entertainment, markets, fantastic Mediterranean gastronomy, nightlife and, not to forget, gorgeous beaches<\/strong>, Alcudia has it all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things to do in Alcudia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So, you are going to Alcudia. Good for you! Here’s a list of things to do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Explore the old town of Alcudia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Alcudia has a beautiful, absolutely lovely and charming old town<\/strong> with narrow streets, cozy alleyways and small shops, cafes and restaurants. The town has a great historic feel<\/strong> with beautiful Gothic architecture such as the church of Sant Jaume. The ancient city walls are completely preserved<\/strong> which is quite unique here on the island. When strolling on the medieval city walls, you will get stunning views of the city and the ocean<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Beach time!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Who doesn’t love a good beach? The beach in Alcudia is a total stunner. Alcudia Beach is the longest beach on all of the Balearic Islands.<\/strong> The beach is many kilometres long, featuring soft white sands, clear blue water and lots of fun things to do including watersports. <\/strong>The beach in Alcudia is easily accessible via the promenade in the city. Other beaches to check out in Alcudia are the secluded Coll Baix Beach<\/strong> which takes a little hike to get there and the lively and beautiful Sant Joan Beach.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Make a trip to Pollensa <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The lovely town of Pollensa is just a 15-minute drive away from Alcudia. This Medieval mountain town<\/strong> sits at the foot of Serra de Tramuntana<\/strong>, a mountain range that is a UNESCO world heritage site. The town has picturesque narrow streets<\/strong>, old buildings and churches and a lively city square<\/strong> lined with cafes, restaurants and shops. One of the most distinctive features is the 365-step stairway that leads up to the Calvery<\/strong>, an old chapel that sits on top of a hill. 4. Stroll around on Alcudia Market<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alcudia Market is one of the biggest and oldest markets on the island<\/strong> located within the city walls in the old town. The market is held on Sundays and Tuesdays from 8 am until approximately 1 pm. Get your taste of local seasonal fruit<\/strong> and buy fresh veggies to take home to your private villa<\/a>. If you are a shopaholic, you can go check out the stalls selling clothing, jewellery and other items and souvenirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Visit Sa Bassa Blanca Museum<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This museum is set within a nature reserve<\/strong>. It is located on the peninsula just a few kilometres outside of Alcudia. There is not only a museum with incredible modern art and photos<\/strong> but it also features a park full of sculptures<\/strong>. Art lovers shouldn’t miss this place!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Endless water fun at Hidropark<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Hidropark<\/a> is the perfect waterpark for families <\/strong>and it happens to be located in Alcudia. It’s also the only waterpark in the north of Majorca. There are plenty of colourful waterslides, there are inflatable county castles, trampolines and more<\/strong>. It even has a golf course<\/strong> on-site for a full day for family fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Take a glassbottom boat to Formentor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The island of Formentor is incredibly beautiful <\/strong>with waters that are hypnotisingly blue all around. You can go on a fun half-day boat trip<\/strong> to see it. The glass-bottom boat makes the trip even more fun, especially for kids. On the way, you will stop at cliffs, caves and dreamy remote beaches<\/strong>. Arguably the most stunning beach in all of Majorca is the Formentor Beach. The lighthouse<\/strong> on top of a mountain is also impressive and the views are breathtaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Go hiking in Albufera: Alcudia’s National Park<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Albufera is a protected national park<\/strong> in Majorca. It’s an important wetland area, thrilling nature freaks and bird watchers<\/strong>. The best way to explore the park is by bicycle. You can simply hire a bike and ride on the bicycle lanes through the national park<\/strong>. It’s a wonderful experience and a great way to (re)connect with nature. Bring the kids!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. See the remains of the Roman city of Pollentia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Romans<\/strong> arrived in Majorca in the 1st century BC and they laid the foundation of the city of Pollentia which is located strategically in between Alcudia and Pollensa. You can still see the remains of this ancient Roman city today. Just outside of the ruins of Pollentia there is an archeological museum<\/strong> where you can learn everything about this ancient Roman city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Visit a local Brewery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Good news for beer lovers! In the centre of Alcudia, two brothers opened a local beer brewery in the house of the grandparents which is over 300 years old. The brewery is called Beer Lovers<\/a> and it’s all about artisan crafts beers<\/strong>. Super delicious on a hot summer day, sitting in the sun and enjoying the island breeze. On Fridays and Saturdays, you can come to the brewery and try all the 5 different craft beers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
