Sometimes it rains and sometimes it’s sunny. Luckily, Majorca has over 300 days of sunshine a year<\/strong> but if you do happen to catch a day of rain, there is no need to stress. In fact, there are many things you can do when it rains. Things you may not have done if you could just laze on the beach or by the poolside all day. So, come what may – here’s what to do in Majorca when it rains…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Explore the Cuevas del Drach caves <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Who needs sunshine when you can explore amazing natural limestone caves<\/strong> such as Cuevas del Drach<\/a>? These breathtaking caves are located on the east side of Majorca. They are one of the island’s most important tourist attractions and you can easily see why. The caves go as deep as 25 metres below ground level <\/strong>and there is a big underground lake<\/strong> which is one of the largest in the world. Hop in a boat and explore these magical caves and their chambers and underground waters. A classical music concert is performed live in the heart of the cave, making the experience even more special and memorable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Sniff up come culture at local museums <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Across the island, there are many interesting museums<\/strong> to visit. Many of them are located in Palma. Fundaci\u00f3 Museu Joan<\/a> March has an impressive collection by famous Spanish artists such as Dali and Picasso.<\/strong> Es Baluard Museum in Palma for contemporary art, Museu Parroquial <\/strong>in Alcudia. You can also check out the house where painter Joan Miro used to paint and live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Eat! <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you love traditional Majorcan cuisine<\/strong>, you have to visit Mercat d’Olivar<\/a>. Why not do this on a rainy day? This famous market is indoors and therefore, a few hours of rain is spent well here. Delicious tapas, cave and oysters, yum! This covered food market<\/strong> is located in the heart of Palma. 4. Go diving <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With underwater caves, impressive rock formations, beautiful corals and amazing sea creatures<\/strong>, the island of Majorca has more than a few great diving spots. You’ll be spending your time underwater totally oblivious of the rainy weather above. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are you travelling with kids? They’ll love the aquarium in Palma and it’s a perfect activity on a rainy day in Majorca. Palma Aquarium<\/a> has the largest shark tank in all of Europe<\/strong> and you can hop on a glass-bottom boat<\/strong> to see the sharks swim beneath you. You can also follow the jungle trail <\/strong>where you can see waterfalls and hear exotic birds sing. You can even spot parrots. It’s fun, educative and entertaining<\/strong>. The aquarium also has a soft-play area for hours of fun for the little ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Relax at Palma Hammam<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Forget about the outside world for a little while and soothe your body, mind and soul <\/strong>at the spa. Palma Hammam<\/a> is the perfect oasis to relax and recharge. Steam rooms, aromatherapy pools, saunas, massages – it’s heavenly! You get to experience ancient hammam rituals <\/strong>and slip into Andalusian Arab baths<\/strong>. It’s a beautiful and tranquil place. A great escape from the outside rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Palma Jump with kids <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Let the kids jump and bounce around <\/strong>on a gloomy, rainy day at Palma Jump<\/a>. They’ll love it and so will you! Watching the kids having a great time is priceless for any parent but you can also join the jumping party for double and triple fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Fun after the rain: canyoning<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This activity can only be done where there has been a decent about of rain coming down the sky. so, if you love canyoning, rain means good news for you. It’s adventurous and thrilling<\/strong>, climbing down gorges, jumping from cliffs and conquering waterfalls. Great fun with older kids as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Go to the cinema <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At the cinema in Palma, you can see the latest blockbusters. Ocimax and CineCiutat<\/strong> are the two most well-known cinemas. Combine it with a lovely dinner in town and you have the perfect evening no matter the rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Laze at your private villa <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Your villa is a wonderful private dome with a living space, garden, swimming pool, kitchen and several bedrooms. You can go swim in the rain and take a hot shower afterwards. You can prepare a lovely dinner for two or have it prepared by a private chef. You can watch movies all day or finally read that book. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
