For the ultimate aristocratic experience, look no further than Villa Camilla, a most opulent 19th-century property that is located on the western shores of Upper Lake Como, Italy. This villa has remained exclusively in the ownership of the same noble family, the Marchesi di Rozzano, a name now synonymous to Italian excellence. Spread out over a massive 4 floors, Villa Camilla consists of a whopping 10 bedrooms to perfectly accommodate a large group of 20 guests. The villa’s indoors convey plush beauty as reflected in the mosaic flooring, wooden staircases, 18th century frescoes and statues as well as some of the finest paintings dating back to the 1800s. The outdoors continue to impress with its breathtaking views over the manicured lawns, and private tranquil pool that lets guests find their complete solitude. All restoration and refurbishment works were carried out in compliance with the principles of sustainable architecture that makes the villa stand out as the perfect luxury holiday retreat.
Villa Camilla’s great number of 10 rooms are spread over 4 storeys of ground level, first, second and third floors. The ground-level bedroom is equipped with a bathroom that is disabled-friendly for less able bodied guests. Head up to the first floor and guests will find 2 double bedrooms overlooking lake views, each with its own bathroom with a luxurious jacuzzi tub respectively, and another double bedroom with its own private bathroom. A similar setting and layout is what guests can also expect with the 2nd floor, with 3 more double bedrooms, one which has lake views with the rest all designed with a similar set of amenities. On the topmost third floor is where guests will find the final 3 double bedrooms with their respective private bathrooms and where 2 of them overlook lake views.
The magnificent park surrounding the villa was originally designed as an English garden in the 19th century, featuring great old trees of beauty such as acers or maple, cork oaks, redwood pines and cedars. Also featured in this expanse of the park is a small vegetable garden that teems with a variety of fruit trees. Not-to-be-missed is the finest swimming pool that is designed with a spacious area for guests to sunbathe on the comfortable sun loungers while sipping cocktails, while tennis enthusiasts can also head to the tennis court for a game or two (or more). There is also a games room equipped with a tennis table, table football and a pool table, and a protected playground that is safe for young kids to play around.
The luxurious outdoors are also translated into its gorgeous indoors of singular beauty, featuring sleek wooden furniture against contemporary design and build. The modern kitchen is fitted with a full-fledge of amenities such as microwave oven, coffee machine, toaster, and designer-like storage drawers, and draws its charm from retaining some of the original materials from its historic days of yore.
As part of the stay package, guests will receive change of bed towels and linens for the week while the consumption of electricity is also covered. The service staff will also perform a final cleaning, and guests also have use of complimentary WiFi Internet throughout their stay.
The five-star location of Lake Como with its unspoilt surroundings is where guests would spend most of their days at, with attractions as ancient churches, luxurious Baroque palaces, 15th and 16th-century fine frescoes, and the architectural masterpieces of Lombardian Romanic era, and also numerous museums that are definitely worth checking out. There is also the famous Duomo di Como cathedral, the island of Comacina, and the Baradello Hill that are equally not to be missed. For some shopping galore, the downtown Como, dubbed the ‘silk capital’ beckons with its stone-flagged streets, glamorous shops and bars, and famous pastry shops.
