Strategically located as a beachfront cottage on the Maremma coast in south Tuscany, Villa Duna Piccola welcomes a group of 4 pax to its homey and cosy ambiance where guests have direct access to the beach. Its unique selling point is being a fairly isolated, standalone structure with miles of unobstructed ocean views while surrounded by romantic farmland, varied wildlife and rich Mediterranean flora. Built with 2 rooms, this villa has been restored to adhere to strict environmental laws so that it harmonizes with the natural landscape and rare beauty that this stretch of area and land is known for. This certainly bodes well for guests who book their stay with the knowledge that they are part of an important preservation culture being advocated, while also falling in love with features like an irrigated garden, the beautifully-architected dunescape, and the highly-protected sand lilies during the summer for one’s admiration solely.
Bestowed with 2 bedrooms fit for 4 guests, 1 room is configured with a double bed and the other with twin beds. Minimalist and simplistic are key to the design and layout of both rooms, with windows that open out to the outdoors and affixed with some furniture details like a small dressing table and side desks to make up the nook and corners and for guests to use.
Check out the irrigated gardens that blend into the surrounding dunescape, grown with local shrubs like myrtle and juniper which guests get to immerse themselves in. At the rear of the home lies a bamboo roof standing on wooden pillars that makes for a private parking spot under the shade. Guests who stay here also have exclusive access to a private beach via a gate that is just about a 110-metre walk from the house.
The cosy and homey living area is fitted with coloured sofas and cushion pillows, centering a coffee table on a woven floor mat. Just behind this space is the dining area with its set of wooden table and chairs, amidst white wall surroundings. The kitchen area with its bright yellow cabinets and drawers are equipped with all the modern appliances for guests to make their beverages and home-cooked meals.
The villa is provided with WiFi Internet access, satellite television, HiFi stereo and air-conditioning for guests. It is also a dog-friendly villa and some of the services included as part of the stay package includes the change of bed and bath linens and final cleaning being performed.
Villa Duna Piccola is conveniently located just 110metres away from the beach where access can be afforded via a fence gate which closes off the entire Fontanili estate as part of security. As this is solely a private access, only guests of the villa will have exclusive privacy to this stretch of the coast, though there may be the occasional beachgoer spotted wandering up from the beach’s public access that is much further down. Guests could also check out a beach club with a friendly bar just 100meters away. Other sights that are recommended include Capalbio Tarquinia, the Saturnia spas, the WWF National Maremma Park, as well as the islands of Giglio, Giannutri, and Monte Argentario - a peninsula that is known for its fine coastline.
