Its breathtaking setting in the heart of the Luberon National Park is already enough to captivate the imagination of guests. Welcome to Villa Glycine, an exceptional 17th-century farmhouse in a romanticized background of mountain and valley views, where guests experience the authenticity and grandeur of its vast living spaces, with splendid Provencal charm just literally at their backyard. Built with 6 bedrooms for 11 guests maximum, the villa offers plenty for guests to explore - from the picturesque garden terraces, manicured lawns with ancient olive trees, the beautiful private pool, the relaxing pool house and a private tennis court as among its outdoor facilities. Inside, an aura of elegance and sumptuousness permeates through with its rich furnishings including a Baby Steinway piano, an original fireplace and plush sofas dotting the living hall.
The 6 bedrooms at Villa Glycine are spread equally across the main villa and the courtyard which is accessible from the outside. Over at the main villa, the 3 bedrooms consist of the Master Bedroom configured with king-sized double bedding and an ensuite bathroom (a bathtub and separate shower and WC), a bedroom with king-sized double bedding and French doors leading out to the garden terrace and pool, as well as an ensuite bathroom with shower and separate WC, and the other being a bedroom with single bed and ensuite bathroom and separate WC. Over at the courtyard, the 3 bedrooms are made up of a bedroom with king-sized double bed and doors opening out to the garden terrace and an ensuite bathroom, a bedroom with king-sized double bed with also doors opening out to a private patio and a separate bathroom, and the final one being a bedroom with king-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom.
The outdoor grounds feature gardens that are simply delightful while dotted with olive trees across the manicured lawns, scented by summer aromas of lavender and roses, as well as wisteria-draped arches with giant pots that are bursting with colors. The alluring saltwater swimming pool can be heated upon request except during July and August and is equipped with a safety alarm. There is also a pool house with shower facilities, while sun loungers dot the sides of the pool. An inviting bar and gas-grilled BBQ are also provided, and plenty of pretty spots are available for guests to sit around with a glass of wine before settling into the tranquil alfresco dining terrace for their meals. To sweat it out with sports, head over to the tennis court for a game of tennis, and a water feature lends further enchantment to the surroundings.
Radiating elegance, authenticity and lots of soul and character, the indoors of Villa Glycine certainly do not disappoint. With vast living spaces, the living hall that greets guests upon their arrival is furnished with stylish sofas and a Baby Steinway piano that stands by picture-book windows in true Provencal fashion. There is also a gorgeous Provencal kitchen and a dining area with a striking original fireplace. Also a superb highlight is the full-screen cinema with film projector, sound system and satellite television to boot.
The team at Villa Glycine will help to take care of the needs of guests throughout their stay, from arrangements such as maid service and extra cleaning, private chef hiring or catering, pre-stocking of the fridge, local day trips and tours, airport drop-off and pick-up, as well as babysitting and childcare services, while cleaning is done from Mondays to Fridays for 3 hours each day. A range of other requested services are also available subject to availability and additional fees.
Located at the heart of Luberon National Park, the villa is within walking distance to one of the most idyllic hilltop villages that is famous in this region. With its steep cobbled lanes and charming cafe-bar serving delicious meals, guests can also go for wonderful walks around the surrounding countryside that passes vineyards, olive groves and woodlands. The village of Menerbes is also visible from the villa’s gardens, a site made famous by Peter Mayle’s ‘A Year in Provence’ and is only 4km away. Market towns like Apt and Cavaillon are worth visiting while kayaks can also be hired to take a ride down the Sorgue river, as with the lavender fields around Van Gogh’s beloved Gordes are one of the must-dos.
