Against the backdrop of rolling green lawns with 360 degree views of the countryside and highlands, the 7-bedroom Villa Maccinaia 14 is a property to behold for the beauty and grandeur it exudes. Consisting of a main building that dates back to the 17th century, it has been wonderfully restored to high standards where contemporary design integrates in the finest manner with the original Tuscan architecture. Despite having 7 rooms, this villa can accommodate as many as 14 guests hence the number behind its name. It also has a dependence unit that comes equipped with a private heated, saltwater swimming pool and houses the additional rooms. Located in a quiet spot of Chianti region between Gaiole and Castelnuovo Berardenga, the property also shares a large vegetable garden that guests get to enjoy locally grown organic produce on their dinner table. As part of a wine producing estate, guests get to arrange for visits to the wine cellar upon booking with the owner.
The 7 bedrooms at Villa La Maccinaia 14 that sleep up to 16 guests are found on the main house and guest house. The ground floor is occupied by a lofted twin bedroom that accommodates either 2 or 4 guests, while the 1st floor consists of a double bedroom. Up on the villa’s 2nd floor, guests will be greeted by an unusually large Master Bedroom with an ensuite bathroom (featuring a bathtub and separate shower) and 2 Double Bedrooms that come with their respective ensuite bathrooms, one of which has a shower and the other a bathtub. Proceed to the guest house which sleeps 6 pax here, and this is where the Twin Bedroom and Bunk-style Bedrooms for kids are housed on the ground floor, and another double bedroom upstairs on the 1st floor with its own bathroom and bathtub too.
A lovely garden that is well-kept with a vegetable garden allows guests pure enjoyment of some of the freshest green produce in a farm-to-table concept. The 12m X 6m swimming pool is a heated pool with electric cover and equipped with saltwater system that is enticing for swims or dips all summer days and evenings, and facing across it is an enclosed alfresco dining verandah for guests to dine and wine amidst the outdoors, replete with a built-in BBQ facility to boot.
The main residence’s interiors were restored to the highest standards that blend modern design with original Tuscan architecture, featuring pale-coloured wooden ceiling beams, white walls, and neutral-hued couch sofas and other furniture that all come together to make up a stylish and elegant living hall. Over at the dining space, a wooden long table with steel-framed chairs is where guests have their meals, with a framed opening that looks out to the guest house and lawn. The fully-equipped kitchen has modern appliances with a large island kitchen for guests to make use of, while over at the guest house, there is a sitting room upstairs on its 1st floor with a kitchen corner that opens out to the terrace with some marvellous views.
As part of the stay package, cleaning service is performed for 3 hours a day and 5 days a week, as with the pool’s heating that is included in the price for bookings from May to end September. Other amenities provided are baby beds, air-conditioning and Internet WiFi access for guests.
Set in the heart of the Chianti region, Villa La Maccinaia is sandwiched between Gaiole and Castelnuovo Berardenga, and allows for guests to savour the outstanding views of the Chianti countryside throughout your stay. For wine lovers, they will be pleased to know that there are well-known wineries located just a short drive away. Also a must visit are the many Chianti villages within close distance and the town of Siena about 35km from the villa.
