The views, the spaces, and the hospitality. The villa is perched over a valley and separated from the road by woods. The sunsets and sunrises are remarkable. I jogged up and down the road in the morning, past olive trees, grape vines, farmland, and a few other villas. The villa has so many impressive and comfortable spaces. All aspects of the construction seem permanent and of a piece. Our families felt together, yet with enough space and privacy. The hospitality and presence of Patrizia and Antonella in the mornings and evenings, preparing lush breakfasts and exquisite diners, let us develop playful and genuine relationships with those who live where we were visiting. Their eggplant terrine was delicate and savory, and their grilled meats were beyond expectation. The kids were thrilled by their pizza night as well. We loved the week we spent there in late October and hope to return again someday.
