Villa Khum Sak Tong

This is our 4th return visit to Pa Sak Tong and it just gets better every time. Normally we stay in the Pa Sak Tong Villa but this trip we were lucky enough to stay in the Khum Sak Tong estate located next door. This is a massive property has 4 private villas and it was all for us. All the villas are made of solid teak with tasteful contemporary art throughout. This is the prefect estate for a large family or group. The grounds are meticulously managed by a Team of gardeners and just spectacular with lotus ponds and rice fields. There is a huge pool made with Italian marble and the best part was it was heated. On cold mornings this was the place to be. Beautiful koi fish are in 2 different ponds entertained us along with the water buffalo. There are 2 spas which allowed all of us to have therapeutic and relaxing massage each day. The therapists are world-class, and we returned home feeling rejuvenated. One of the spas has a huge solid stone bath that you lay in after having a herbal steam. Everything is thought of on all levels of luxury. The staff have always been one of the highlights of the stay. Completely genuine Thai hospitality. They anticipate our every need and seem to find news ways to make us even more comfortable. The food just gets better with every visit. The staff remember everything we like and each of us gets our own special breakfast treats each morning. The organic coffee is delicious and comes from nearby Doi Chang mountain. Our highlight is always the stunning hike we do each year on Doi Chang on the resort’s private trails. Imagine being at the top of a 2000 meter mountain in the clouds, with no one for miles around and then the clouds break and the views are stunning. We could see all the way to the Mekong river. The staff prepared a delicious picnic lunch on the top of the mountain and somehow even managed to make cappuccinos in the middle of nowhere. We are all very much against the riding of elephants and as some of the other resorts promote and allow this like the Four Seasons we are so pleased that Pa Sak Tong is associated with a nearby elephant sanctuary where they took us on a private afternoon experience to learn about elephant behavior in the wild. Very memorable! We have stayed at all of the so called 5-star properties in the Chiang Rai area and nothing compares to Pa Sak Tong. The villas are massive, the staff are genuinely kind and professional, and it is all completely private – no noisy tourists to bother us! A huge thanks to John and his Team of lovely ladies. We will be back again and again.
