Villa Pointe Sud in the tiny coastal town of Mirissa is rated as one of the most exclusive retreats in Sri Lanka. This exclusive 726 sq m villa, surrounded by gardens 10 times its area, is renowned for its enviable location close to a pristine and private beach with a temple situated nearby for the spiritually inclined. No expenses have been spared to make the villa truly world class; the terrace gardens with rich tropical vegetation and a panoramic view of the Indian Ocean make this multi-level villa a much desired destination choice for the well-heeled who seek a getaway from hectic city life.
There are five bedrooms in this sprawling and aesthetic villa that are distributed across two levels. The master suite sports colonial furniture and has a downy Queen bed with gossamer mosquito nets straight out of the Arabian nights. Having large, antique windows with blinds, there is plenty of choice for allowing the play of light and shade. There is a convertible sofa where a child can easily dream away the nights, and the timber flooring adds to the charm. A bathtub in the outside pavilion makes the setup even more charming.
The second bedroom is also a treat for the eyes. Having a queen size bed, it sports a wickerwork sofa that is interesting to say the least. Wooden rafters take you back to old times, and the attached bathroom is quasi-modern.
The third bedroom has a Queen 4 poster bed like its predecessors. The bathroom is quite novel, done in jade green and black, polished marble.
The fourth bedroom has single, twin 4 poster beds and is designed for children. They will love the beautiful theme in pale orange; it draws out radiance and generates positive vibes.
The fifth and final bedroom has a couple of sleigh beds which are traditional in style, and it is a guest double, located at the lower level and has access from the outside.
All the bedrooms have air conditioning with no expense spared to ensure that focus remains on comfort and convenience of guests.
The enticing infinity-edge swimming pool with 180 degree views of the Indian Ocean is a big attraction of Villa Pointe Sud. The sun loungers with large parasols keep you from getting sunburnt as the fresh tropical breeze carries you off to dreamland. There are two meditation pavilions situated on top of the cliff where you can relax and concentrate on experiencing the intransient. The yoga pavilion also helps, and it connects to the beach, situated at a lower level.
If you have a penchant for spending your hard earned holiday in the solitude of the villa, you will not be disappointed. An extensive library of books will keep even the most avid reader engrossed as he/she relaxes in a reclining chair, leafing through the latest bestsellers in the plush basement. For movie buffs, there is a TV room at the mezzanine level with a high definition, flat screen TV, complete with satellite capabilities to tune in to international channels and a state of the art DVD player accompanied by a collection of the most popular movies.
The sitting/dining room exudes a sense of space and airiness with high ceilings and a plush dining table. The house plan is devoted towards a sense of openness and luxury which you will appreciate as you sit back on the comfortable sofas and soak in the rich ambience of honed red and white tones and original, mahogany furniture. The desks, chairs, table and cabinets have an unmistakable colonial touch which is endearing.
A fully functional kitchen with all amenities means that you can explore local cuisine while delving into recipes. If not, a very competent chef can be hired to rustle up a fancy meal designed to tantalize your taste buds.
There are separate staff quarters and you can hire the services of a chef, gardener, housekeeping and laundry, and also security personnel if need be. There are people for pool maintenance as well.
