What's around Niseko chalets

Why stay in Niseko

Niseko is a prime holiday destination in Japan during winter, being home to some of the snowiest resorts in the world. But while most tourists love booking a Niseko chalet during the ski season, we found out that the town is just as generous when it comes to beautiful attractions come other seasons. Whether your catch Niseko filled with whitest of snow or greenest of trees, it promises nothing but tons of fun and good memories. So if you want to find out your options on how to best enjoy this charming little town across all seasons, make sure to take note of our tips right through the end.

Interesting facts about Niseko

Hokkaido, the island where Niseko is nestled, receives these industrial quantities of powder snow from the cold winds of Japan Sea, gathering moisture and dropping it as snow as it blows over the mountains. If you are spending the snowiest times at a Niseko chalet, you can witness up to about 17 meters of this heavenly white stuff! Check out our Niseko ski guide here.

Family activities in Niseko

If you’re planning a family trip to Niseko during winter, enjoying the snow should automatically be on top of your priority list. Our Niseko ski chalets are conveniently located near ski schools where kids can safely jump-start their skiing hobby. Other activities that kids just can’t get enough of are snow tubing and snowmobiling. Apart from building a snowman (of course!), these are the perfect snow-related activities that you can enjoy as a family!
On another season, summer vacation is the perfect time for kids to enjoy the town’s parks and rivers. Consider going on a family rafting and experience one of the cleanest rivers in the world. We also recommend stopping by at Fukidashi Park, where kids can get a taste of tasty natural spring water straight from the mountains—for free!

Activities and points of interest in Niseko

What better way to enjoy your Niseko ski chalet than to use and abuse your skis and have the best time sliding the world’s most powdery snow? Don’t worry if you haven’t tried it before, there is an abundance of ski schools in the area where you can get help from.
On the other hand, if you’re planning to enjoy the mountains in the summer, we suggest checking out one of the area’s golf courses. Niseko Village Golf Course, in particular, is a personal preference. In fact, it was named Japan's Best Golf Course at the World Golf Awards in 2014. Alternatively, if you’re more of the adventurous type, we suggest checking out the island’s scenic trails. We say Mt. Yotei is truly majestic!

Niseko’s restaurants, cafes & bars

Abucha 2 is one of our team’s favourites (especially during winter!) for their authentic hot pot and sashimi selection. Make sure to get a reservation as tables tend to get full during peak mealtimes. Ezo Seafood is another go-to for their lip-smacking seafood—their oysters are to die for! Take note though that the restaurant is usually booked months in advance, so you might want to make a call as early as now. And oh, winter or not, we love our ice cream! Make sure to pass by Milk Kobo at least once when you visit Niseko Japan. They’ve got the best desserts that are locally-sourced and freshly made every time!
