Villa Matilde is an old farmhouse but it has been renovated and modernized, and now offers modern luxuries you find only in star-category hotels, minus the crowd you get there. This will be your own home, for the entire duration of your stay.
The villa is spread over two levels. All the four bedrooms are on the first floor, all with queen beds. There is also a double sofa bed that can sleep additional guests. The unique traditional terracotta flooring of Tuscany makes them all unique. The walls have been whitewashed thoughtfully to help the guests have a restful night after a busy day of visiting the many attractions around this property. The beds themselves are modern. But the side tables, dressing areas, and wardrobes are all antique, which strikes a nice balance between contemporary and traditional design. Large windows provide views of the lush garden and pool area.
Head outside to make the most of outdoor living. Go on long walks through the hilly terrain and the trees, taking in the glorious scenery all around. The expansive 1000 square meters garden is beautifully manicured. It can be the perfect oasis for soaking up the tranquil surroundings. The large private swimming pool is the right place to cool off on a hot summer day. The villa’s location and the wooded hills all around provide the perfect opportunity for keen walkers who want to explore on foot and appreciate the many natural sights. A path leads from the pool through the lawn to an outdoor dining area with rattan chairs and a table, so you can enjoy your morning coffee or an alfresco meal. The shade offers protection from the sun.
On arrival, you will see the classic stone façade of the villa and its tiled roofing, so it may seem like a traditional Tuscan house. Inside too, you will find many walls are made of stone, a continuation of its traditional design. But the plump sofas, modern dining area, and amenities like barbecue, heating, and the many contemporary kitchen appliances all provide 21st-century convenience and comforts. The ground floor has an open-plan living and dining space. Watch your favorite sports team or a movie here. The formal dining area can seat all the guests. The two bathrooms have walk-in showers and bidets.
Water, gas, electricity, internet, all utilities, and pool towels are included. There is a gardener. You can ask for heating and midweek cleaning at an extra cost.
Villa Matilde is close to the Tuscany-Liguria border. Visit the medieval village of Tresana on the hilltop. The nearby Terrarossa town has many restaurants, shops, and supermarkets. Mauro at Tresana and Per Bacco in Aulla are both good places to eat. There are many hiking routes around this rental property. Scenic Lunigiana runs from the Apennines to the Mediterranean Sea. You may see some Roman and Medieval settlements in the area. Further away, the beaches at Lerici, Bocca di Magra, and Porto Venere can all be reached easily.
