Mount Lodge is a private bed and breakfast that harmoniously blends luxury and comfort. This exclusive, three-bedroom establishment lies a mere train’s drive to Colombo and hardly a few minutes from the charming town of Mount Lavinia. Designed by architect C. Anjalendran, this villa is tucked in an intimate corner not far from the beach. Enjoy plenty of natural sunlight from just about anywhere in the villa thanks to the oversized windows that grace the place. A stay at this villa will also provide you with the chance of tasting delectable Sri Lankan fare without having to travel for miles. Mount Lodge can sleep up to six guests.
As the day ends, wind down in the air-conditioned comfort in one of the three bedrooms: The Garden Suite, the Master Suite, and the Courtyard Suite. Fitted with its own attached bathroom, the Master Suite opens directly into the exterior courtyard and comes with a king bed as well its own private sitting room. The Courtyard Suite offers an inner garden and shares a bedroom with the Garden Suite.
One of the many good things about staying at Mount Lodge is that you’ll have not one but three gardens to yourself. The lavish yard is sheltered by high boundary walls, ensuring your complete and utter privacy. The inner courtyard garden features antique-style wrought-iron tables for enjoying a delicious breakfast serenaded by the gentle chirping of the birds.
Both floors of the villa provide a living room so you can be sure that you’ll get to relax in your own secluded haven. The two living rooms are also idea for when you want to spend time with your family, exchanging stories about your day or enjoying a movie on the flat-screen. Cushiony armchairs and comfortable sofas only add to the living room’s warm, inviting feeling. Through the oversized windows, you will be treated to blissful views of the emerald green garden outside.
Downstairs, you’ll find a sun-drenched dining room with a spacious table where you can tuck into the western or traditional breakfasts served every morning.
A complimentary Sri Lankan or Western-style breakfast is served every morning. You can take your pick from an assortment of meals, including a continental spread, string hoppers, or milk rice omelets. For an additional fee and upon your request, the chef can also prepare your lunch and dinner. Airport transfers can also be arranged at an extra charge.
From Mount Lodge, you can easily hop on a train to explore the very best attractions that Colombo has to offer. Galle Face Green, for example, features a spectacular waterfalls with food stalls so you can tickle your taste buds with the local cuisine. Another attraction close to the villa is Pettah, a local bazaar known for its local food stalls, souvenirs, handcrafted items, and various wares. At sunset, head over to Mount Lavina Hotel to enjoy a drink while watching the sun set. As a guest of Mount Lodge, you can also access the hotel’s swimming pool.
While you’re in Colombo, tour the Dutch Period Museum that features plenty about Sri Lanka’s vibrant history. The Old City Hall is another historic site on the island that dates all the way back to the British Era.
